The first production Gold Wing was the GL1000.
Four cylinders in a boxer configuration, each bank having a single toothed belt driven overhead camshaft.
The engine was liquid cooled, driving through a 5 speed gearbox via a multi plate wet clutch.
1976 GL1000 LTD
A new model marked the Gold Wing’s second year as Honda graces the GL1000 Limited Edition with an assortment of special features,
including gold striping, special LTD sidecover badges, chromed radiator shroud and screen, quilt-patterned seat,
plus gold wheels and spokes.
There were just detail changes for this model year.
There were quite a few changes for this model year.
Comstar wheels appeared, along with a different exhaust system.
The Faux tank and side covers were squared off and a 3 instrument pod appeared.
Carburation was different also.
This is the final version of the GL1000.
Detail changes include rectangular indicators which were to carry forward through the GL1100 models
and onto the later GL1200E which was sold for only the model year 1984
